When attending an LDS temple, women wear long white temple dresses (or skirt and blouse) and the men wear white pants, shirts and ties. During a sealing ceremony, the little children also wear white dresses (girls) and white suits (boys). White is symbolic of purity, worthiness and cleanliness. It creates an environment of equality, where everyone is the same – dressed in white; no fads are necessary. All worldly power and prestige are left outside as we enter the temple doors, as we are all equal in the eyes of our Heavenly Father. This unity invites the presence (spirit) of our Father in heaven. Only then do we begin to see things as they really are, to put our spiritual priorities above all else. In this peaceful and holy setting, we are able to learn who we really are, and what our purpose is in this life and beyond; to become eternal families forever.
